Per our last Independent SSV Anti-Crime Committee meeting last week, I have collected some options found personally or provided by others on Security Devices our neighbors may be interested in installing. Please share with your mailing list.

Which device is right for you? There are a number of factors for you to consider depending on your property and circumstances. These include Budget, Urgency to install (timing), Topography of your premises, your Beliefs as to what strategy is best for you and your property, and how far do you want to go? The best security is multi layered and includes redundancy. For example, camera, signs, siren and dog.

Please note that I have found eBay.com or eBay.com.au to be good sources for these types of equipment. Item numbers between the two sites are interchangeable. I’ve had equipment sent from eBay to friend in USA who collected all the stuff (coming from multiple sources that do not ship to Fiji) before packaging for Fiji. It was sent via USPS Express. A 25lb carton cost US$130 to send and arrived in 5 days. Note re: Fiji Customs - Personal effects of contents totaling less that FJ$400 escape duty charges. Bring a receipt that reflects the cost to expedite processing by Customs officer in SSV Post Office: Customs Officer Available ONLY 11AM-1PM M-F

This company may provide your preferred lenses upon request. Or you can buy additional camera for about US$30-60 each.

10) This gadget approx.  2  1/2 inches across.  Cost in Oz $7.45. bought at bunnings.com.au. Wasn’t able to get the item name for easier access.

11)  This system (similar to item 8 above) is available from Ozzie Electronics in SSV. Price is quite reasonable without the fuss of getting it here.
